Prof M. Krishnan Nair

Tribute to my closest relative Professor M. Krishnan Nair.
His memories still influence my reading habits.

The late literary critic had collection of more than 10,000 books which includes books from around the world. Whenever I met him, he presents me with few books and says “tell me how it is” and i am not sure whether he really expected any comments from me.

When I met him on last Dec 2005, he said “I may not be there next time” and gave me Mart Tully’s - Something Understood book; an anthology of poems and prose. Fantastic book and the book have great words of god, friendship and love.

He died on Feb 23rd 2006.

Upanishad

Dr. N. Gopalakrishnan’s (Hon. Director of IISH) speech on Hindu beliefs of the body, soul and mind was highly impressive. The presentation was based on “Indian concepts on religion, culture and spirituality”.

His lectures on Indian concepts of Upanishad level, Vedic Level, Puranic Level and Itihasa Level were really great.

His speech with reference to the scientific books on UPAVEDAS, Economics (Arthasaastra -Upaveda-Rigveda) , Science of archery (Dhanur veda), Science of music (Gaandharva veda), Science of health (Ayurveda) Science of engineering & sculpture (Sthaapathya veda), and Aryabhata's Mathematical Science written on 1st century or after; thats related to a:b ratio level, is something to be understood about India’s rich scientific heritage.

Great knowledge. A man who travelled 2000 years back.
